Transformer Pad Prime’s design aims at offering an enhanced user experience, both tactile and visual. Experiences with the previous Transformer Pad, and the vision of our new aim, led to the adoption of a radical design change.
Holding the Prime, you’ll immediately see the most obvious improvement (and our greatest challenge); reduced size and weight. Not only is it the slimmest and lightest 10” tablet PC (8.3mm, 586g), it’s also equipped for the highest performance in every way; look and feel, screen and camera quality, and audio-visual features.
On the previous Transformer Pad, metal was a reinforcing element. The Prime takes this further with a full metal jacket; a lustrous solid metallic body with a premium finish. The body’s dual layer surface is a product of engineering excellence. A sand blasted frame and spun aluminum with 3D coaxial hairline polish, entices the eye with a sleek slice of technology, buttons and ports placed discreetly so the smooth surface of the Prime remains virtually unbroken.
Our radical rethink of every aspect of the Transformer Pad led to key changes in manufacturing and assembly. New machining processes and tooling have been used, fusing multiple parts into one, in pursuit of simple elegance. As a result, the Prime represents a triumph of engineering skill, combining outstanding technical performance with a unique aesthetic.
Experience taught us the Transformer Pad’s docking mechanism could be improved. After considerable research and study, we’ve succeeded in achieving greater simplicity; the Prime’s dock is smaller and uses fewer parts, resulting in smoother and more reliable paring.
The Prime’s new spun aluminum finish deserved new color schemes to show it off. Two premium tones, amethyst gray and champagne, emphasize the Prime’s quality status. Amethyst gray is our gift to professionals, spotlighting the sophisticated metal finish of the Prime and adding a touch of rich royal purple in the dark grey base; the combined effect gives the impression of a highly polished blade, a road warrior’s weapon.
Champagne presents the Prime in a welcoming warm tone, the golden tint contrasting well with the silver metal surface, catching the viewer’s interest with an image of luxury.

The Prime’s MyWave system simplifies both operation and readability for users. Central to the MyWave experience is the adaptive user interface. We aim to integrate hardware and software into an intuitive user experience complementing the Prime’s design excellence.
We’ve adopted the style of a magazine, integrating it into the Prime’s entire design concept; component style, layouts, transition effects, and operation gestures are all modeled on this metaphor, giving users the natural experience of a familiar item.
Our wallpaper collections are designed specifically to immerse users in a comfortable, natural setting. Relaxed scenes of blue sky, green grass, and healthy trees, help provide a peaceful user environment with positive ergonomic value.
Wallpapers with integrated system information combine practicality and beauty; a whale swims gracefully through ocean waves, the height of which indicates remaining battery power.
